What actually happens in a fitting

We talk first
Your game, your misses, what you want the ball to do, and what you play now. Ten minutes that shapes the whole hour.

We measure where you are
Launch monitor numbers on your current clubs — carry, spin, launch, dispersion, strike pattern. There has to be a baseline to improve on.

We test properly
Head and shaft combinations across brands, changed one variable at a time, until the numbers and the feel agree with each other.
- 04
You leave with the spec
Written down: head, shaft, flex, length, lie, loft, grip and size. Yours to keep whether you order from us or not.

Common questions
- How long does a club fitting take?
- About an hour for irons or a driver, a little longer for a full bag. You'll hit on a launch monitor, we'll test a few head and shaft combinations, and you'll leave with a written specification.
- Do I have to buy the clubs from you?
- No. The spec sheet is yours to keep whatever you decide. Most people do order through the shop, because we'll build it properly and check it before it goes out, but there's no obligation.
- What should I bring?
- Your current clubs and the shoes you play in. That's it. If you have recent launch monitor numbers from elsewhere, bring those too.
- I'm a beginner — is fitting worth it?
- Yes, arguably more than for a low handicapper. Clubs that are the wrong length or lie angle teach you compensations that take years to unlearn. It's cheaper to start correctly.
- Which brands can you fit?
- Ping, Callaway, TaylorMade, Titleist, PXG, Srixon, Cleveland, Scotty Cameron, L.A.B. and Orka. Because we fit across brands, the recommendation is the right club for you rather than the one we happen to hold in stock.
- Where are you?
- Belton Park Golf Club, Belton Lane, Grantham, Lincolnshire NG31 9SH. About ten minutes from the A1, and easy to reach from Nottingham, Lincoln, Newark and Peterborough.
